See what we are up to!
New year new patrols! We will run some team building exercises and games for Scouts to get to know their patrols better. Patrol Leaders will also run a forum with their patrols to gather feedback on our programme. This week the Troop will split in halves. One group will enjoy an orienteering challenge in town whilst the other group will learn how to build a fire and some simple knife skills (cutting and whittling) – experienced Scouts may also try out wood carving. This week is very similar to last week’s meeting, with the groups swapped. Patrols will walk from the 26th HQ along the river to Jaws (Fish and Chip shop) in Milton. This evening we will be meeting at the hut and learning about the festival of Diwali. This will help the Cubs work towards their World Challenge Badge, World Faiths activity badge and International activity badge. Similar to the last meeting, with the groups swapped: Tonight we will be meeting at the big Tesco on Cheddar’s Lane just off of Newmarket Road. We will be running a ‘supermarket sweep’ type challenge whilst also learning a little about food banks and donating food to food banks. Please drop your Cub off at Tesco – Cheddars Ln, Newmarket Rd, Cambridge CB5 8LD. 3 patrols will try out a range of crafts this evening, including paracord bracelets/lanyards/woggles, pyrography, glass/metal engraving and/or candle making. Scouts will begin their work on their chosen/allocated activity badge. They will spend a total of 3 nights on the same badge to fulfill the badge requirements. Some parts may have to be competed at home! Scouts will carry on with their badge work. They will spend a total of 3 nights on the same badge to fulfill the badge requirements. Some parts may have to be competed at home! Milton Country Park Scouts will aim to finish their badge work this evening. Some parts may have to be competed at home! Tonight we will be visiting Cambridge City Food bank (6 Nuffield Cl, Cambridge CB4 1SS – https://maps.app.goo.gl/QtL3npMR2QhB7Rnw8). Normale session time of 6.30pm until 8pm – please drop your Cub off at the food bank, not at the normal Scout hut. We will be donating the food purchased at Tesco during our Supermarket Sweep evening in November. Ben at CCF will be giving us a tour and teaching the Cubs about food and and what happens to the food once it’s donated.
